Adventure-seeking cruisers are increasingly occupying the ranks of yacht owners. Outer Reef Yachts is one of the builders they’re seeking out. It may be better known for its so-called small yachts, but Outer Reef does have offerings in the megayacht range. The 820 Cockpit Motoryacht represents a good stepping-up project for those wanting the additional luxury that bigger spaces afford and the longer range that bigger fuel tanks award.
The 820 Cockpit Motoryacht is actually an updated version of a previously popular model for Outer Reef. That model is the 800 Long Range Motoryacht, whose name leaves no doubt as to her purpose. Withe the 820, Outer Reef, which often handles design in house, reconfigured a few areas. One is the crew’s quarters. The megayacht has a twin and a queen berth for the extra hands owners often want onboard. If you happen to be an owner-operator, you may find your children or grandchildren will enjoy the cabin instead. They’ll feel like kings and queens of their own separate domain, aft of everyone else’s staterooms. Either way, the 820 Cockpit Motoryacht’s crew area has a direct stairway from the saloon. It’s a welcome, quite convenient arrangement, something not all megayachts in this size range feature. (Some keep crew access solely outside, via a transom door or side-deck stairway to the engine room.)
You and your guests get four staterooms to enjoy, plus a comfortable cockpit and flying bridge for alfresco relaxing. You can outfit the areas as you see fit. Outer Reef provides an owner’s allowance for outfitting the interior of the 820 Cockpit Motoryacht. It covers choice of woodwork, fabric, and countertop materials like granite.
