Saturday saw the launch of Feadship hull 809, christened Vanish. It was reportedly quite the day, too, with a rock band entertaining guests and craftspeople alike. And, all the Feadship craftspeople who contributed to Vanish were invited by the owners to tour the yacht.
Those owners were heavily involved in completing the 217-foot (66.25-meter) Vanish, which they acquired last summer. (Vanish, bearing styling by De Voogt Naval Architects and Eidsgaard Design, started under a different owner.) They’re planning to put her alfresco areas to frequent use. Vanish has a hot tub (for six, no less) on her sundeck. Rather than the typical fold-down platform revealing the beach club, this Feadship has a beach club with a permanent view. It’s flanked by spacious sunning/seating areas, further ideally situated at the base of the twin steps from the main aft deck. Elsewhere outside, nighttime becomes fun time thanks to a movie screen. And, two touch-and-go helipads will let the owners scout the next best anchoring or watersports spot. Vanish totes a handful of tenders and PWCs for the latter activities.
One of the nicest areas aboard Vanish does a vanishing/appearing act. It’s the balcony off the master suite. Many megayachts have fold-down balconies, but not this one. It forms when a teak-laid platform extends out from the starboard side. That platform is further flush with the master stateroom’s sole. And, it becomes part of the master lounge area via sliding glass doors.
Speaking of glass, a three-deck-high wall of glass makes an equally high atrium aboard Vanish quite dramatic. Imagine the vistas the owners and guests can enjoy as they descend the freestanding staircase here. On a related note, the staircase appears to be marble, but it’s actually painted to seem that way.
Ten guests can join the owners when Vanish makes her way around popular cruising grounds. She’ll do so at an expected 17½-knot top speed under MTU power. Best range should be 5,200 nautical miles at 12 knots. Seventeen crew and the captain will see to everyone’s comfort and safety.
