UPDATE, APRIL 18, 2016: Here’s Mistral:
Read on for our original story.
This Saturday will see the 330-foot-plus (100-meter-plus) megayacht project Mistral slip into the water at Lürssen.
The builder is not permitted to reveal the megayacht’s true name, nor even her exact LOA. Our best estimation is that project Mistral measures 348 feet (106 meters).
There are, however, a few facts that Lürssen can confirm. Espen Øino is the stylist (a popular choice among the yard’s clients over the past decade, it’s worth noting). The keel for project Mistral was laid in 2013, 31 months ago to be exact. The megayacht is for an experienced owner who already has “a fleet of other yachts,” according to Lürssen. And, the owner of project Mistral will keep her in the Middle East come delivery later this year.
Lürssen has two additional megayacht launches planned for this year, too. Each is a significant size–and interesting enough, one is much larger than project Mistral. She’s project Jupiter, which should be 394 feet (120 meters). The other expected launch: project Thor, a 243-footer (74-meter).
