The Overmarine Group is renowned for its super-fast, super-sexy Mangusta maxi open range. In recognition that not every owner wishes to go fast, in 2013 it created the long-range Oceano 42 series. This week—the same week hull number one launches—the builder has signed the second megayacht in the 138-foot series.
Since construction started already on the hull, this second Oceano 42 will be ready in 2017. She features the same aluminum and steel construction as her predecessor. A trideck design, she also features the same styling, by Alberto Mancini.
For better fuel efficiency, the Oceano 42 has a bulbous bow and a full-displacement hull. With twin 12V MTU 2000 diesels, she should cruise at 11 knots and see a 4,000-mile range. Diesel-electric propulsion and more powerful 16V MTU 2000 diesels are other engine possibilities. We do not have details on what power package the owner has selected.
Decor details aren’t being revealed as of yet, either. However, the Oceano 42 accommodates 12 guests and seven crew. Spaces inside and out are meant to make the most of the cruising journey. For example, large ports bring in plenty of natural light. Natural light also spills down into the master bath, due to the pool floor directly above it. That same pool has a waterfall at its infinity edge. And, two sunning spaces surround the pool. Finally, fully aft, the Oceano 42 features a fold-down swim platform and beach club.
Look for hull number one of the Oceano series to make her boat-show debut this fall.
