In less than a month, Bilgin Yachts plans to hand over a big yacht to a big family. The yacht is Giaola-Lu, a Bilgin 155.
Giaola-Lu, which actually measures 153’5” (46.8 meters), is set to cruise around Europe, along Atlantic Ocean coastlines, and in the Caribbean. The head of the family, from Mexico, had never built a custom megayacht before. He was attracted to the idea of creating spaces aboard that suited their way of living. While every owner says that, he didn’t feel the need to follow tradition. So, Giaola-Lu has a galley and pantry that’s particularly guest-friendly on the main deck. There are also five guest staterooms below decks. These complement the main-deck master suite.
Giaola-Lu doesn’t part with tradition everywhere, though. She still has indoor lounges on the main deck and bridge deck. And, like many yachts, she has indoor-outdoor spaces.
The owner worked with H2 Yacht Design to make Giaola-Lu look like a modern floating home. The design firm suggested a number of ideas that the owner liked, while he contributed many, too. Scandinavian design is a particular favorite of his. And, he was particularly involved in the wood choice. He selected three veneers: walnut, wedge oak, and olivewood, each a warm tone. Leathers, marbles in creamy and dark tones, and light-tone onyx are onboard Giaola-Lu, too. While we do not have photos, the effect on the 30-foot-beam (9.2-meter-beam) boat should be impressive.
