Christensen Shipyards celebrated a union of sorts in time for Valentine’s Day. Hull 38, a sistership to Silver Lining and Chasseur, saw her hull and superstructure come together.
The 164-footer (50-meter), which is available for sale, in on pace for launch in summer 2018. Much of the plumbing is already finished. The shipyard’s in-house joinery shop is well along in finishing cabinetry and paneling. Hull 38 will show off black walnut, the same rich wood found aboard Silver Lining. (See a photo gallery of Silver Lining here.) It’s due to the two yachts sharing the same interior design firm, VARO Design. Furthermore, she’ll have stonework designed by Christensen’s in-house stone shop. An elevator will take guests from the lower-deck accommodations up to the skylounge, for convenience. Twelve people in the owner’s party can stay aboard, tended to by 10 crew.
The shipyard adds that it has beefed up the sound and vibration control methods onboard. It has even added extra insulation, so that Hull 38’s eventual owners don’t need as much air conditioning (and therefore consume as much energy).
Once Christensen launches the megayacht, it expects she’ll see a 16-knot top speed, powered by twin MTUs. At 12 knots, Hull 38 should enjoy a healthy range of 5,000 nautical miles.
