In 2016, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council, foreign visitors to Panama were responsible for 81 percent of all tourism spending there. Though 2017 figures aren’t yet available, the organization anticipated a nearly 10-percent increase. In addition, it foresees ongoing increases through 2027. So, it’s no surprise something else is ongoing, luxury real estate development. One such development is Ocean Reef Islands, residences off the Panama coast. Given the waterborne environment, there’s also the Ocean Reef Islands marina. While the developers naturally expect home buyers to purchase marina slips, yacht and megayacht owners can buy berths outright, too.
Ocean Reef Islands actually comprises two man-made islands off Panama City. The marina nestles between them, containing 200 slips. Thirty-seven of those slips suit megayachts exceeding 80 feet (24 meters). In fact, the largest superyacht slip can accommodate a 200-footer (61-meter). No matter what size your yacht, you’ll be able to take advantage of a few services, too. The marina will feature a marine-supply shop, a fuel dock, and a dive-trip operator. Should you prefer to try before you buy, you can rent a slip instead. While the Ocean Reef Islands marina will be fully ready by early 2019, some temporary slips will open up prior to that. Management is by F3 Marina.
Making the Ocean Reef Islands marina more enticing, the residential developments are mostly private single-family homes. Lots start at more than 9,100 square feet. Several condo buildings are on site, too, with units containing three bedrooms. Complementing all of these are a spa, a gym, a restaurant, a convenience store, a pool, tennis courts, and park-like areas. Furthermore, a private boat or helicopter can take you to a nearby secluded island beach. Twenty-four-hour security is present, too.
