Regattas make for quite the impressive spectacle, as well as days of fun and camaraderie. The seventh edition of the Perini Navi Cup promises these, and more. Coming up in September, it’s returning to a familiar site in Sardinia, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS).
If you’re not familiar with the Perini Navi Cup, the race is solely for sailing superyachts built by Perini Navi. The shipyard plays host, of course, this time from September 19 to 22. Between the scenery off Porto Cervo in Sardinia, and the resort-like setting of YCCS, owners and crews enjoy a real treat. Then, there’s the high-octane sensation of racing against equally competitive yachting enthusiasts. Finally, and just as important, there’s the chance to make new friends, and memories.
Actually, there’s the chance to make a lot of new friends. So far, more than 20 sailing superyachts have registered for the Perini Navi Cup. The competitors include Aquarius, Blush (the ex-Helios), Heritage M, Jasail III, Spirit of the C’s, Sybaris, and Xnoi. The shipyard’s most recent delivery, Seven (above), is competing, too. In fact, this is her first Cup.
She, as well as the other racers, will have their work cut out for them, though, if the owner and crew of Sybaris have anything to say about it. The yacht is a repeat winner.
To whet your appetite, here’s a look back at the most recent Perini Navi Cup, held two years ago. On a related note, you’ll see one of the builder’s Vitruvius series motoryachts at one point. Some of the motoryacht customers come to enjoy the sights and sounds… probably less stressful than racing but no less enjoyable of a few days.
