A concept design from Baglietto and yacht architect Santa Maria Magnolfi has gone deep. Meaning, it’s gone deep-sea fishing. The duo propose a sportfisherman version of the Baglietto 43M Explorer. The aim is to entice a different type of customer, and to show passionate anglers the possibilities.
Initially revealed last September, the 43M Explorer draws inspiration from workboats and warships. A more rugged exterior styling than typical for a long-range yacht complements engineering for staying self-sufficient for long periods. To that end, the shipyard anticipates a range of 5,600 nautical miles at 11 knots under Caterpillar power for this 141-footer. Below decks, meanwhile, both the new and original designs contain cold rooms and dry stores across the two-level crew area.
Specifically for the sportfisherman version of the Baglietto 43M Explorer, the deck toys change. Rather than have a helipad aft, the megayacht carries a fishing boat. In fact, it can carry up to a 28-foot (8.5-meter) craft here. To keep your catch chilled when you return to the mothership, the megayacht has a dedicated cold room, below decks.
While superyachts and sportfishing don’t necessarily go hand in hand, they are not mutually exclusive, either. A few yacht owners carry fishing boats as tenders, for example, or have them travel in tandem with their big yacht. When it comes to Baglietto, the shipyard is the sister company to the well-known sportfisherman builder Bertram.
Just as Baglietto can incorporate the know-how of its sister brand, it can incorporate its own know-how when it comes to customization. The sportfisherman version of the Baglietto 43M Explorer is available for personalization. From the four guest staterooms below to the master apartment on the upper deck, 12 passengers can be accommodated. Suggested layouts and interior designs show cozy conversation areas in saloons, floor-to-ceiling windows along the main deck, and even a winter garden. The latter is a glass-enclosed area between the saloon and aft deck. Finally, to encourage further enjoyment of cruising (and seeking big fish), you can take advantage of an observation deck atop the wheelhouse.
