Those of you who frequent Montauk on Long Island’s East End may be familiar with Navy Beach. The nearly 10-year-old locale is among the top waterfront dining spots in the region. Thanks to a new partnership with IGY Marinas, it is expanding to St. Thomas and St. Maarten.
Navy Beach sits on a private beach, overlooking Fort Pond Bay and Gardiner’s Island. The name comes from the fact that Fort Pond Bay was once occupied by the U.S. Navy. Two Navy piers still sit there, too. The nautically themed eatery attracts guests by yacht, as well as car. “To share our beverage, dining, and event experiences with vessels and guests who have not stayed in the Hamptons or had the opportunity to enjoy Navy Beach is very exciting for us,” says Frank Davis, a partner in the restaurant. “This initiative is the launching point of entirely new levels of hospitality for yacht owners and charter guests in the Caribbean,” adds Tom Mukamal, IGY Marinas’ CEO.
Navy Beach St. Thomas opens first, specifically this December, at Yacht Haven Grande. Similar to the Montauk locale, it will have abundant seating. One hundred guests can dine outside, with an additional 20 people sitting at a bar. All will enjoy views of the megayachts in the marina as well as other boats in Charlotte Amalie Harbor. Furthermore, since Navy Beach St. Thomas opens onto Yacht Haven Grande’s lawn area, live music, weddings, and more can take place, too.
Two additional eateries will open within the next several months under the Navy Beach St. Thomas umbrella. First is ISLA Cantina, a Mexican restaurant. The other is Sylvette, a French-Mediterranean bistro. All three eventually will cater to the megayachts in the marina as well.
Meanwhile, Navy Beach St. Maarten (both images) will open at Yacht Club at Isle de Sol early next year. Occupying two stories, it will feature a 20-person, U-shape teak bar, plus a cozy dining area. Furthermore, it will have daybeds facing the pool, plus host events for up to 250 people. Smaller groups (to 75 people) can take advantage of the Sky Deck, perched above the marina with a bar and seating.
Besides offering island-inspired dishes, each Caribbean location will also include favorites from the Montauk original.
