UPDATE, DECEMBER 30, 2019: The U.S. Coast Guard is overseeing salvage operations for Andiamo, well-known singer Marc Anthony’s megayacht, which is still partially sunken in Miami. Crews plan to upright her and drain her fuel before hoisting her from the water within the next several days.

The publicist for singer Marc Anthony confirms that Andiamo, his 120-foot (36.6-meter) Benetti, capsized after catching fire Wednesday night. Neither Anthony nor any guests were onboard. The crew reportedly escaped unharmed, too.
Anthony’s megayacht, a Benetti Classic 120, was at Island Gardens Marina on Miami’s Watson Island. Miami Fire Rescue officials say they responded to the fire around 7:30 p.m. “Because of the amount of fire on that ship, we had to take more of a defensive attack,” Capt. Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue tells a local TV station. Therefore, the firefighters requested assistance from Miami Beach Fire Rescue as well as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Together, more than 45 firefighters doused the flames from both the dock as well as two fireboats. It took them two hours to get the flames under control. The flames did not spread to other yachts at the docks, thankfully. Furthermore, no damage occurred elsewhere in the marina.
Unfortunately, though, Andiamo began listing dramatically to one side while water from fire hoses poured on the flames. You can see the severity in the top left photo below, shared by Miami Fire Rescue on Twitter:
Miami Fire Rescue units responded to a 120Ft yacht that was on fire at approximately 07:30pm today. Despite the fire going out on Wednesday night, fire officials and police remained on the scene early Thursday morning. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire, too.
Built in 2007, Andiamo had hosted the singer’s friends and family in recent years. In fact, the singer shared several images and videos via his own social media channels of fellow entertainers and business associates with him onboard. An avid boater and yacht owner, Anthony had enjoyed smaller vessels over the years. Additionally, Anthony’s megayacht, with accommodations for 12 people, was for sale earlier this year.
