If you can’t get to the shipyard, let the shipyard come to you. The Damen Yachting team has embraced the idea, with a twist. It created a virtual tour of the Amels 200 series third hull, walking you through the under-construction craft. Whereas most builders favor full-color renderings and shy away from showing in-build areas, Amels blends the two. This greatly enhances the virtual experience in the process.
With many major yacht shows cancelled and international travel continuing to pose challenges, builders are investing in video. Similar to their photo shoots, they’re showing fully outfitted saloons and staterooms, albeit 3D renderings of each. None, however, seem willing to show these same rooms in build, where craftspeople are completing wiring and insulation. With the Amels 200 video below, however, you feel as if you are personally walking through the yacht—just the way you would if you were on site.
This refreshing change of pace lets you better appreciate the 197-footer’s (60-meter’s) variety of staterooms. These include a VIP on the bridge deck. You additionally better appreciate the effect of the large ports in the master suite. It’s due to your tour guide, a Damen Yachting sales manager, purposely standing alongside them while mentioning he’s 6’1” (1.85 meters) tall. Further note the spatial relations below decks. There’s 7’2” (2.2 meters) of ceiling height.
Since the 1,015-gross-ton project is for sale, you can work with Laura Pomponi and her team from Luxury Projects for the interior. Between your own vision and the studio’s suggested decor for the 280-square-foot (26-square-meter) beach club and 387-square-foot (36-square-meter) sundeck saloon, with a massage room, you have abundant creative collaboration ahead.
Having moved to her outfitting shed earlier this year, this third Amels 200 can still see delivery next spring with your personal touches onboard.
