The last time Codecasa delivered a 79-footer (24-meter) was 1995, and way back in 1970 prior to that. With Luca Dini Design, the shipyard is addressing the size range once again, further channeling the classic characteristics of the 1950s and 60s. They’re doing so with the 24-Meter Codecasa Gentleman’s Yacht, a 10-hull series.
While the shipyard refers to her as a 24-meter, she’s actually 25.78 meters (85 feet) overall. Nevertheless, the all-aluminum megayacht shows off the styling from a bygone era. From wood paneling on the superstructure to glossy mahogany detailing and to her round ports, the Codecasa Gentleman’s Yacht looks every bit the part. “The idea was to transform a piece of nautical history into something exclusive,” Luca Dini of the design studio shares. “Yachts from the 50s immediately take me back to when I was a child. So, I wanted to create something that, just by looking at it, make me re-live moments of my childhood, walking in Darsena in Viareggio, admiring the timeless elegance of these boats.”
Dini brought the design to Fulvio Codecasa, the shipyard chief. “For quite some time, I’ve wanted to create a boat that, like the Vintage series produced by my shipyard in recent years, goes hand in hand with my personal vision of a yacht,” he explains. Specifically, he continues, he envisioned a smaller-scale yacht, yet also one where traditional style pairs with modern conveniences and abilities.
Interestingly, hull number one of the Codecasa Gentleman’s Yacht will start construction soon. Further noteworthy, the shipyard wants a limited-edition series, so only nine more will ever be built. Codecasa envisions the design appealing to owners who want a second yacht—with a matching, custom-made tender (above), too. Featuring the same finishes and lines, the tender will stow on the main deck and launch via one-person operation of a dedicated davit.
Keeping the tender on the main deck opens up the transom for an unexpected leisure area for a classic cruiser. The Codecasa Gentleman’s Yacht includes a proper beach club. This allows the owners’ party of eight to stay and play together, either inside or out through sliding-glass doors to the swim platform.
Featuring three guest staterooms plus of course the owners’ suite, the 21-foot-wide (6.5-meter-wide) megayacht allows for personalization. However, Dini’s studio believes a classic exterior warrants a classic interior. Therefore, one suggested decor (above) includes white-lacquered overheads and white walls, warm woods, and traditional navy and brown tones. Should you want a more modern look, the studio has suggested designs at the ready, too.
Regardless of what you choose, you can plan voyages near and far. The Codecasa Gentleman’s Yacht should see a 2,100-nautical-mile range at 9 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots.
