Just prior to its 20th anniversary, Conrad Shipyard will deliver its largest yacht to date. The Conrad C144S features design from three major international firms, for a longtime charter enthusiast who wanted a custom yacht of his own.
In fact, according to Radek Gendek, a broker with the charter firm Luxury Charter Group, the customer had been collecting ideas for more than 10 years. A few years ago, the two began visiting shipyards and touring yachts, on both sides of the Atlantic. Interestingly, when Gendek saw Conrad Shipyard—based in his hometown of Gdansk, Poland—launch the C133 Viatoris in 2018, more inspiration struck. He arranged for the client to see the yacht at the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival. The contract signing took place at the 2019 Monaco Yacht Show.
The Conrad C144S draws largely on that design, plus Conrad Shipyard’s experience with prior yachts like a 132 with Vripack. The “S” in the model name means “straight bow.” Styling comes from Reymond Langton Design, combined with naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. Although expected performance figures aren’t available, the Conrad C144S should be capable of long voyages, with owner-requested low sound and vibration levels.
The owner additionally requested lots of natural light through floor-to-ceiling glass, complemented by light-tone woods and decor materials. Through collaboration with Milan-based m2atelier, the owner will treat guests to four staterooms, lounges inside and out, and both an infinity pool and an alfresco cinema on the sundeck. A few spaces do double duty, too. For instance, a settee and coffee table on the sundeck convert to a sunbed.
Following delivery by next summer, the Conrad C144S will charter through Luxury Charter Group. Eight crew plus a captain will take care of guests.
