The pandemic saw a marked increase in yacht buying and yacht chartering activities around the world. Similarly, it proved that the way business has been done for years may not be the best path forward. In fact, Tom Mukamal, the CEO of IGY Marinas, is among those who believe re-imaging experiences is important. Mukamal and his team therefore have joined forces with the International Yacht Brokers Association to create the inaugural Caribbean Yacht Show this December. IGY Marinas’ Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas will host the event. Although it’s a trade show focused on charter, it will have an impact on the consumer superyacht experience, as he reveals in this Megayacht News Radio podcast episode.
Megayacht News Radio is the longest-running podcast series in the superyacht industry. Our editor, Diane M. Byrne, traditionally interviews executives about consumer-facing issues. Since the Caribbean Yacht Show is an industry-only event, Byrne and Mukamal discuss in detail:
- how he and his team weighed their own experiences at yacht shows to ensure the Caribbean Yacht Show immerses visitors in the local culture
- what draws superyacht owners and charter guests to St. Thomas and the other U.S. Virgin Islands
- what specifically Yacht Haven Grande offers, both on site and within close proximity
- how the IGY Marinas team plans especially to educate charter brokers about hidden beaches, dining experiences, and more in and around Yacht Haven Grande
- and more.
