The “home away from home” DOM series from Baglietto has struck a chord with cruisers. With the smallest model already seeing a hull delivered, several of the largest, the DOM1 33, have sold before ever touching water. They won’t have to wait too long, though, to see hull number one. The Baglietto DOM 133 series is set to debut this year.
“DOM” comes from domus, Latin for “home.” The concept sprang from the imagination of the shipyard and Studio Vafiadis. The notion is to prioritize more family-focused experiences, plus to do so within a voluminous cruiser. Measuring 131 feet (40 meters), the Baglietto DOM133 feels even more voluminous thanks to a main saloon with opening, full-height windows on each side. Add in her beam of 28’5” (8.7 meters), and that should make for an enviable ambience.
The all-aluminum Baglietto DOM 133 really shines, though, in her alfresco arrangements. Part of the elongated aft deck, for instance, lowers to turn into a transom pool. That pool perches above a fixed seating area facing the sea directly below. The proximity to each other lends the feeling of the whole aft area being a two-level beach club.
Up top, meanwhile, the sundeck presents you with 753 square feet (70 square meters) of en plein air rest and relaxation. A hot tub, sunpads, and (of course) a cocktail bar are among the suggested amenities.
They’re suggested because the Baglietto DOM 133 series is semi-custom. Therefore, some customers might want even more sunning space. They may prefer a bigger dining area. They may even want some observation settees, for when the megayacht hits her expected top speed of 17 knots. Those settees will be especially attractive when the yacht is making the most of her 7,500-nautical-mile range in diesel-electric mode. (The yacht comes equipped with a hybrid Caterpillar system.)
The hardest decision should be deciding where to point the bow.
