If there is any question as to how popular Mangusta is or how anticipated its 165 REV megayacht model is, the builder’s YouTube channel has the answer. This video had upwards of 48,000 views within its first three days of being public.
Hull number one splashed just a few weeks ago. The 164-footer (50-meter) is the flagship of the REV series, which caters to cruisers who love maxi opens but also much more comfort. Overmarine Group, the parent company of Mangusta, collaborated with Lobanov Design for the styling. The studio says it drew inspiration for the sleek, powerful looks from vintage cars of the 1930s.
As much as the profile looks sleek, the interior of the 165 REV looks and feels voluminous. Partly, the reason is a collection of three large skylights on the main deck. They bring abundant brightness into the saloon, dining area, and bar, all within an open concept. Yet another reason, though, is how the builder and designer use space. For instance, the master suite, forward on the main deck, is an elbowroom-friendly 990 square feet (92 square meters). It’s two levels, too. Arrange it with an office area and a lounging area, besides the sleeping area. Or skip the office altogether and devote the suite entirely to your peaceful relaxation.
The 165 REV, among several power superyachts debuting at the Monaco Yacht Show, has additionally attractive areas. One certainly is the beach club. With 387 square feet (36 square meters) of personalization space, it perfectly suits lounging pre- or post-swims. Remember how Lobanov Design says it drew inspiration from vintage cars for the styling? It specifically drew inspiration from convertible automobiles of the era for the way the beach club’s aft door opens.
If you take a tour at the Monaco Yacht Show, further note that the beach club does not do double duty as a toy garage. Lobanov Design fashioned an entirely separate stowage area—a side-launching garage, in fact. It can keep two PWCs and a primary tender, or a combination of smaller fun rides.
