Two years after delivery to a delighted repeat customer of Lürssen, the superyacht Ahpo is for sale. She represents not only one of the largest private yachts in the world, but also one of the largest under North American ownership. Additionally, she’s the largest yacht available for sale at the moment—a project that would take five years to build if she were a new contract.
The 377-footer “will appeal to an active owner or larger family, as she has been purposefully designed to maximize family life and time spent on the water,” explains Kevin Callahan, a broker with Moran Yacht & Ship. The company holds her central listing, and further managed the build on behalf of her owner. He’s Michael Lee-Chin, a Jamaican-Canadian banking-industry businessman who previously built a yacht with Lürssen. That project was Quattroelle, a 282-foot (86.11-meter) Nuvolari-Lenard design whose delivery took place about a decade ago. Lee-Chin reportedly enjoyed the collaboration so much that he decided to commission Ahpo with the same teams.
With a volume exceeding 5,200 gross tons, the yacht has several impressive areas. For instance, seven quite-spacious staterooms accommodate 14 friends and family. Of course, Lee-Chin saved the best for personal use, a two-deck master suite. Since the full-time crew count is 36, this makes for an excellent crew-to-guest ratio. Furthermore, four more staff cabins are aboard, for flexible use. They can accommodate a nanny, pilots, bodyguards, naturalists, or others.
More stand-out areas onboard are the 12-seat cinema, with a starry ceiling comprised of LEDs. Not surprisingly, Ahpo also has a gym, which Callahan says is “one of the best gyms ever put on a yacht.” Specifically worth noting, it extends the full 60-foot (18.3-meter) beam of the boat. A spa that has to be seen to be believed (below) and a beauty salon, meanwhile, pamper guests. So, too, do a 26-foot-long (8-meter-long) pool and multiple hot tubs. An ample aft-deck winter garden can open up entirely to become an alfresco space.
Finally, between the certified helipad and abundant watertoys in the garage, playing the day away while at anchor is pretty easy. Buyers curious as to whether Ahpo has a history of anchoring can rest easy as well. Her charter career has covered the French Riviera, Spain, Italy, Sardinia, Corsica, Greece, and Turkey, for example. Additional cruising destinations include Jamaica and much of the Caribbean.
The superyacht Ahpo is for sale for €330 million (nearly $354.4 million at press time). If you’re attending the Miami International Boat Show from February 15 to 19, you can step aboard by appointment. She’ll be at Yacht Haven Grande at Island Gardens, with Moran Yacht & Ship.
