The largest fully custom megayacht in Tankoa Yachts’ history has made significant progress. The code-named Tankoa T580 yacht remains on pace for delivery next year for a repeat customer who wants what the shipyard calls a World Wide Explorer.
The owner signed the contract two years ago, with the 190-footer (58-meter) representing a big step up in size. Previously, the client had a 164-footer (50-meter) from the Genoa-based builder. The larger size comes with a sizable range, too. Tankoa pledges she’ll exceed 5,000 nautical miles (though, it hasn’t revealed the propulsion package). Evi Orsi, Tankoa Yachts’ president, hints at “cutting-edge solutions” onboard, too.

The owner, the shipyard, and the team from Francesco Paszkowski Design all joined forces to equip the 190-footer with some significant personal features. For instance, a helipad sits at the bow, which itself is nearly vertical. An ample garage aft houses a 30-foot (9-meter) limo tender alongside yet another tender. Still aft, a big beach club, with a fold-down platform, yields access to a relaxing spa, featuring a massage room. While the Tankoa T580 yacht also has a swimming pool onboard, it’s not on the main aft deck, where a lot of owners seem to prefer it. Instead, this customer requested it sit on the flying bridge. The gym is up here, too.
Currently, the Tankoa T580 yacht has her steel hull and aluminum superstructure joined together. Her engines and gensets are aboard, with more major machinery installations a priority. Simultaneously, other welding is going on throughout her other decks, plus her navigation mast is in build. So are significant hatches, especially those for the owner’s balcony and the bow garage.

When the work wraps up next year, 10 friends and family can join the owner for cruises. Tankoa is striving for a peaceful ambience to complement the décor by Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini. It’s installing soundproofing and sound-deadening measures while the above-mentioned welding is going on.
While production work continues, Tankoa doesn’t plan this project to be its last fully custom contract. It’s already working on proposals with a variety of designers, it says.
