The Nomad Yachts division of Gulf Craft has been around several years, though it’s new to American cruisers. Those with a yearning for intrepid travel in a family-friendly, pocket-sized package will appreciate the Nomad 101 yacht, the newly announced flagship.
The 98-footer (29.77-meter) is ideal for owners stepping up into superyacht territory for the first time, as well as those already with some experience. Either way, the series further targets owner-operators and cruisers who prefer full-time professional crew handle everything. The common denominator in Gulf Craft’s view, of course, is a love of making the passage, not just hitting the ports.
With 130 gross tons of volume, the Nomad 101 yacht looks a little more robust than most yachts her size. Gulf Craft and naval architect Andrew Wolstenholme intend her to cover more than 1,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Still, however, she caters to comfy, cozy leisure time. Up to 10 people in your party can stay onboard, with your friends and family all accommodated below decks. The master suite, naturally, is on the main deck. About 377 square feet (35 square meters) of space is for the crew’s quarters, a crew galley and mess, and the captain’s cabin. Interestingly, it doesn’t contain the laundry. Rather, the laundry area is hidden in the guest lobby outside their staterooms, a more practical move.
Speaking of practical, the Nomad 101 yacht embraces more sustainable design, too. Most of the staterooms will incorporate naturally abundant decor materials, for instance. Additionally, the interior design will make good use of recycled materials wherever possible. Though buyers can tailor the interior to their liking, hull number one so far should emphasize earthy colors.
The colors of approaching shores will be best spotted up top, on the upper deck. Here, 377 square feet (35 square meters) of alfresco space will let the entire party onboard spread out. Once anchored, there will likely be a race to go swimming or use the watertoys. A Williams 325 JetTender and two PWCs can stow onboard.
Gulf Craft plans the Nomad 101 to meet international regulations governing charter, for owners’ flexibility. No word yet on when the series will come to the United States.
