People watching is a favorite pastime for some, while yacht spotting is a favorite pastime, too. One of the best places this time of year to yacht spot is Monaco because of the Monaco Grand Prix. Plenty of megayachts are already in the Port Hercule marina ahead of the big race on May 26. Here’s who you may see on your TV screens if you’re yacht spotting at the Monaco Grand Prix.
CORAL OCEAN
A big, open sundeck is one of the best areas aboard this 238-footer (72.5-meter, below). It has an indoor-outdoor bar, too. The 30-year-old Coral Ocean completed a €35-million refit ($36.4 million) in 2022 to remain competitive among super-size superyachts.
FATH
Yacht spotting at the Monaco Grand Prix doesn’t get much better than this. At 317 feet (96.55 meters), Faith (at top) is one of the largest yachts in the marina. She’s been there for previous races as well.
HURRICANE RUN
A fan of a different sport, specifically horse racing, took delivery of Hurricane Run from Feadship in 2009. LOA: 176 feet (53.5 meters). The yacht name is the same as one of his prized racehorses.
LOON
Yacht spotting at the Monaco Grand Prix becomes more fun when you can see a yacht that’s quite a celebrity herself. The 221-foot (68-meter) Loon is quite the star, with arguably the best crew-driven social media accounts, The captain and crew post abundant photos and videos, taking you on deck and all around her during their journeys. Fun fact: Loon is just one member of the Loon Flock.
LIONHEART
Eight years old, Lionheart calls on Monaco, and the Monaco Grand Prix, regularly. LOA: 295 feet (90 meters). She’s further one of several yachts with “Lion” in her name over the years for the same owner. He’s Philip Green, a former retail executive in the UK.
SEVEN SINS
Yacht spotting at the Monaco Grand Prix actually started days ago, especially with this lady (above). A Bugatti Chiron loaded onto the aft deck of the 171-foot (52-meter) Seven Sins for an event being hosted by Tom Claeren. Claeren is a Monte Carlo-based creative director producing campaigns for ultra-luxe brands.
TATIANA
With a gracious interior, this 239-footer (73-meter) doesn’t just appeal to fans of classic design. Tatiana stars in the Netflix series “The Crown.” She plays the role of the famous yacht Jonikal, which hosted the late Princess Diana and Dodi al-Fayed in 1997.Regardless of whether guests who charter her have seen the show, they can enjoy a swim-up bar
