A decade after Feadship’s Royal van Lent shipyard splashed its biggest superyacht, its second-biggest boat is finally in view. The launch of the still-code-named Feadship Project 824 yacht occurred on May 9. She remains on pace for delivery this year.
Initially, many yacht watchers became aware of this project in September 2023, as she headed backwards through the Dutch canals. Facing the “wrong” way is actually the right way for the job. Since her beam exceeds 44 feet (13.6 meters), her hull was too wide for the tug pilots to have unobstructed visibility. So, the tugs spun the hull around, bow (narrower section) toward them, for better sightlines. Additionally, if the widest part, a.k.a. the stern, fit through the canals, the pilots would automatically know that the rest of the yacht would, too.

For now, slim details are available about Feadship Project 824. Firstly, the length is 328 feet, an even 100 meters. That’s not much “smaller” than Symphony, which ranks as the longest yacht to see construction at the shipyard’s facilities in La Kaag, The Netherlands. Symphony is 333 feet (101.5 meters) and hit the water in 2015.
Secondly, exterior design is by Jarkko Jämsen, a Finnish naval architect and industrial designer. He has a variety of pleasurecraft to his name. In fact, he’s worked with RIB manufacturers, powerboat builders, sailing-yacht shipyards, and superyacht builders over a few decades. Jämsen and Feadship are no strangers to one another, either. He worked quite closely with the owner of the 253-foot (77-meter) Syzygy 818 (subsequently sold and going by the name Pi). Highlights of the looks of Project 824 include a cascade of wide stairs connecting the aft pool to the protected swim platform. They further include a long, lean, teak-laid bow.

The interior arrangement and decor are still confidential, but design is by the Liaigre studio. Lastly, the Feadship Project 824 yacht’s propulsion system is diesel-electric, with ABB pod drives further boosting efficiency and reducing vibration.
