For centuries, yachts with side decks have had, well, two of them. Sanlorenzo shocked the yachting industry when it introduced a line of yachts with just one traditional side deck. However, the line, with the designation “A” (for “Asymmetry”), reaped sales success. There are now several models with the configuration, the latest being the Sanlorenzo SL110A yacht.
“The asymmetry is not just aesthetic,” insists Tommaso Vincenzi, Sanlorenzo’s CEO. “It unlocks greater interior space, uninterrupted views, and a feeling of openness that transforms life on board.” To that end, the Sanlorenzo SL110A yacht series follows in the footsteps of projects like the Sanlorenzo SL86A yacht and SL106A. Firstly, the yacht doesn’t actually lack two side passageways. Instead, the port-side access rises up and over the main deck, while the starboard-side access remains as expected. Sanlorenzo, with Zuccon International Project, staggered the passageways to push usable interior space full beam to port.

Secondly, full-height glass to port and starboard, plus a deployable balcony to starboard, create an airy feel. Equally airy and beamy is the main-deck master suite. Better yet, it has private access to the pool on the foredeck. Settees and sunpads just above, on slightly terraced levels but still fully part of the bow, face the ocean. They make the perfect place to spot dolphins or simply to enjoy the journey.
Sanlorenzo reimagined the typical bow-lounge arrangement with Lissoni & Partners, wanting customers to feel further relaxed. Yet another advantage of this lounge, it can be as social or as private as owners want. Stairs lead up to and from the wheelhouse level, for joining friends and family or for inviting them to soak in the pool.
As for the interiors, Lissoni & Partners loans its handiwork here, too. The studio wants to make boundaries between inside and outside disappear. The above-mentioned balcony, for example, complements sliding glass to quite literally open up the main deck. Light spills into the master suite on three sides, too, and guest cabins have two big windows apiece. “She has a design language that is increasingly architectural and distinctly less naval,” explains Piero Lissoni, co-owner of Lissoni & Partners.
Ultimately, “Asymmetry on SL110A is not simply a formal gesture, but a tool to reshape the spatial harmony onboard,” notes Bernardo Zuccon, who runs Zuccon International Project with his sister Martina. “It allows us to sculpt wider interiors, open panoramic views, and dissolve boundaries between inside and out. In every curve and volume, there is a deliberate move toward an architecture that enhances the owner’s connection to the sea.”

You can get aboard hull number one at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.
