There’s something about Perini Navis that makes megayacht fans weak in the knees. In fact, judging by the conversation going on about these Italian sailing yachts over at the popular Megayachts forum that I moderate for Power & Motoryacht, the builder seemingly can do no wrong. So it’s no surprise that Tamsen, Perini’s 40th sailing yacht to date, has everyone there waxing poetic.
Of course, the fact that she belongs to high-profile owners helps: the Firestone family of the USA, who previously owned a same-named Perini that had legions of Perini fans ooh-ing and aah-ing for years. But it’s really more related to her 170-foot length, her 1,127 square meters of sail, and to the updates posted by Jessica Williams, who goes by the name JessicaLeigh4 on the forum. At the tender age of 16, this Firestone family member proudly states that she’s spent her entire life on Tamsen and the family’s other boats, enjoying every summer cruising. Here’s her post from July 1, having arrived in Viareggio, Italy, to celebrate the delivery of the yacht:
Hey guys! I’m in Viareggio right now and let me tell you!!! Tamsen is AMAZING! The layout is so perfect for our family and she’s absolutely beautiful, there’s nothing that I would change given the chance. I took lots of pictures, but I can’t share them until I get home to California in August… But just know that they’re in existence! Anyways, we got done with a sea trial yesterday and things seem to be running just fine. It went really smoothly. We should take posession of it tomorrow or the next day, according to my personal judgment.
With a handful of sunbathing and alfresco dining areas, a mostly teak interior (with every piece of furniture custom made by the builder’s interior-design department), and accommodations for 12, Tamsen should no doubt be put to good use this summer. Stay tuned for updates on her travels.
