Back in June, when I toured Jongert’s facilities in Holland, I got a sneak peek at a new 39-meter (128-footer) motoryacht that is adding sporty appeal to its mostly sailing-yacht lineup. To be more accurate, that megayacht, as well as the recently announced 41-meter (134-footer) project seen here, are helping Jongert re-enter the motoryacht market, which it began addressing when it opened its doors back in 1953.
To be built for a Dutch client and christened Freule, the all-aluminum 41 is based on the 39. This is in keeping with Jongert’s philosophy that all of its yachts be built on a proven underbody, yet still customized to meet an owner’s aesthetic needs. Cor D. Rover and Azure Naval Architects are overseeing the exterior design and naval architecture, respectively, just as they are for the 39. To address the owner’s requirements, the upper deck is completely open (the 39 features a hardtop). Inside, Freule will have a split-level owner’s stateroom forward on the main deck, with abundant windows for panoramic views. Four guest staterooms and four crew cabins round out the accommodations.
Twin 2,575-bhp MTUs should permit a 20-knot cruise speed and a range of 1,000 nautical miles. Top speed is anticipated to be 22 knots.
Construction begins a bit later this year, with delivery set for mid-2010. Freule will comply with RINA classification and the MCA Code for safety.
