To quote a report in the New Zealand-based Western Leader newspaper, “Friday the 13th proved to be a good day for Ivan Erceg.”
Erceg, the head of Sensation Yachts, has been in the headlines in New Zealand and Australia for the past several years because of thousands of dollars due to suppliers and other creditors, including the bank holding the mortgage. The nonpayment convinced one company to file a request with the court to force the superyacht builder into liquidation, but on the 13th, after a lawyer representing the yard reportedly produced a check for the funds owed to that company, the request was withdrawn.
This doesn’t mean Sensation is completely out of hot water, however. Other creditors are still owed funds and are seeking liquidation of the yard. According to the newspaper report, the case has been adjourned until March 13.
