Springtime has been busy at Wally: Less than two weeks after the launch of the Wally 130, the yard lowered a Wally 101 into the water.
Christened Indio at a private ceremony with the owners and the build team, the sloop replaces a same-named Wally 80. Her lines are based on that of Y3K, which combines maxi-racer elements with those of an ocean cruiser. But she also reflects some aspects borrowed from the 80-foot Indio, such as the aft raised “terrace on the sea,” serving as a second cockpit.
Inside, there are accommodations for six to eight guests as well as four crewmembers. Although the interior is still being finished, it should be eye-catching, combining cherrywood with the grain running horizontally with white-lacquered overheads and bulkheads, as well as Wally’s signature element, carbon fiber.
Once final sea trials are completed, Indio is expected to head to Porto Cervo in June to participate in the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta (a.k.a. the Boat International Superyacht Regatta). The owner’s family will then spend the summer sailing the Greek islands.
