Tridents are fixtures in both Green and Roman mythology. Interesting enough, the Greek sea god Poseidon and the Roman sea god Neptune each used his spear to create bodies of water, but also to strike the earth in anger, causing powerful earthquakes. Certainly, there were anything but strikes of anger when the yacht Trident launched into the waters outside of Royal Van Lent’s shed in Holland recently.
The 65.22-meter (214-foot) superyacht features the familiar Feadship flared bow, with a few extra styling touches by Donald Starkey and De Voogt Naval Architects. The aft decks show off semicircular extensions fitted with glass bulwarks, for example. Inside, meanwhile, Donald Starkey combines marbles with both white-washed and high-gloss woods. Additionally, the elevator connecting all decks, including the sun deck, is a showstopper. The idea is to give the owner and 12 guests the feeling of traveling within a solid block of marble.
More to come in a few weeks about the latest Feadship yacht Trident. I hope to get a good look at her next month during a yard tour.
