While some megayacht builders continue to add bigger and bigger boats to their rosters, Moonen Shipyards just added a smaller one: the Moonen 82 Alu.
Moonen is firmly focused on the 20- to 45-meter (about 66- to 148-foot) range, so the 82 Alu fits in nicely, at 25.15 meters (82’5”). Few details are being released at present, though the yacht is being built entirely of aluminum, as “Alu” in her model name implies. Sketches of the interior, by Art-Line Interiors, suggest a casual atmosphere, with good-size settees and relaxation zones.
Moonen anticipates the 82 Alu being able to achieve a 25-knot top speed. It’s based on preliminary test results, with Moonen adding that more tests are underway. A primary reason is that the owners are particularly concerned about fuel economy and want good results at low speeds.
With delivery expected in 2012, the 82 Alu joins a few other projects in the build sheds. There’s the fourth Moonen 97, the Dixon 120, and the first Moonen 133.
