If there’s any doubt that the Chinese are increasingly interested in yachts, look no further than the new contract that Horizon signed, for a Horizon RP120. The yacht is for a Shanghai-based businessman who did a good deal of homework on yachts in the 120-foot (36.6-meter) range, plus ones bearing similarly modern styling, before ultimately selecting the builder.
Interesting enough, the Horizon RP120 (sistership seen above) will be this gentleman’s first-ever yacht. The largest model in the RP (Raised Pilothouse) line, the RP120 has an on-deck master stateroom and four guest staterooms below decks. A tender garage plus space aft on the flying bridge stow a variety of watertoys. A beam just over 26 feet (7.98 meters) should ensure comfortable spaces inside and out. Styling and interior design is by Espinosa.
The contract marks the second megayacht measuring more than 100 feet that Horizon has sold to a Chinese buyer. The first was an RP110, a raised-pilothouse 110-footer, which the owner christened Lady Gaga. She’s set for delivery this month. In addition, Horizon has seven other megayachts under construction at present that are destined for China.
