This bullet-shaped superyacht is a new offering from Icon Yachts, thanks to a collaboration with British Columbia-based Ivan Erdevicki. Termed the ER175, for the designer’s initials and the LOA of 175’2” (53.39 meters), the concept fits many buyers’ desire for a yacht of less than 500 gross tons.
Erdevicki styled the superyacht to look sleek. He and Icon Yachts’ in-house engineering department expect the ER175 to perform smoothly, too. If the yacht were to be built in all aluminum with a semi-displacement hull, she could see top speeds upwards of 30 knots. If steel and aluminum were the materials of choice, the ER175 would see more leisurely 16-knot top and 12-knot cruise speeds. The anticipated speeds would come courtesy of twin 1,600-hp Caterpillar C32 ACERTs. Of course, Icon Yachts and Erdevicki are open to a buyer’s choice of powerplants as well and will recalculate performance accordingly.
The build and design teams are also leaving the trideck ER175’s interior arrangement and decor selections up to a buyer. Certainly, though, interested parties will follow the suggestion of placing the owner’s suite full beam on the main deck. (Molded beam is 30’3”, or 9.22 meters.) Depending on how many people they’ll cruise with, they can easily have four or five guest staterooms below decks. Whether there are ultimately 10 or 12 people total in the owner’s party, the 10-person crew makes for a good crew-to-guest ratio. All crew are accommodated below decks, as you’d expect, with the captain’s cabin aft of the pilothouse.
Other layout options also follow what you’d expect: a formal dining area, a skylounge, alfresco dining spaces, sunning spaces, and a beach club. A nice feature of the beach club is its independence from the tender bays. While toys are expected to be stowed below decks, they’ll be in dedicated compartments, launched to each side while leaving the beach club intact.
Icon Yachts will build the ER175 to ABS classification and in compliance with MCA rules.
