Bilgin Yachts is like a handful of other megayacht yards worldwide, in that it’s a family-run operation. In fact, the yard, based in Istanbul, is overseen by the fifth generation of Bilgin family members. Unlike some other megayacht yards, though, Bilgin Yachts offers metal, composite, and cold-molded construction. It has delivered more than 50 yachts and megayachts from 60 to 148 feet LOA (17.5 to 45 meters) within nearly the past half century.
Turkish yacht builders are increasingly gaining market share. Bilgin Yachts’ latest launch, the 132-foot (40-meter) all-fiberglass M, is among the ones getting attention.
One look at M’s profile, and it’s easy to see why. Even though a few megayachts have been launched lately with this sharp-bow look, it’s still different enough to stand out. And that’s exactly the directive that the experienced owner gave Bilgin Yachts and H2 Yacht Design, which penned her lines. H2 Yacht Design refers to it as a reverse X bow, as it’s a version of the X bow, a.k.a. axe bow, which has less resistance and enhances comfort.
H2 Yacht Design was also tapped for M’s interior. Here, you’ll find a decidedly contemporary style that pairs well with the equally modern profile. Maccasar ebody and zebrano woods, each with dark, rich tones, set the scene. The decor is anything but too dark, though, given other tones and textures and emphasis on natural light within the 27’8” (8.5-meter) beam. Besides the side windows, M has a huge skylight, over the upper-deck dining area, a nice touch.
Another nice touch: a launching system in the tender garage for the 16-foot (5-meter) tender and a PWC.
The RINA-classed M, with a main-deck master and three guest staterooms, further accommodates eight crew plus a captain. A semi-displacement design with a 5’9” (1.8-meter) draft, M is equipped with MTUs for a reported 21-knot top speed and 16-knot cruise.
M is for sale via Yachting Partners International (YPI). Asking price: 9.5 million euros (approximately $11.84 million). Here’s a further look at her.
