When the highly secretive superyacht project widely believed to be named Azzam emerged from Lürssen last month, media worldwide went wild. They’re still going wild. And for good reason: Even in her still-to-be completed state, she’s shaping up to be the world’s largest megayacht. Her final LOA should be at least 590 feet (180 meters). It might even be longer than that, as her bow section as yet to be attached. Azzam’s first build shed was “only” 558 feet (170 meters) long, limiting the amount of work that could be done.
This time-lapse video takes you from the first glimpse of Azzam’s still-unfinished bow section to the towing of the megayacht over to her new construction area. Take note of how high up her wing stations are, and special note of the four huge tunnels aft, which some speculate may be related to waterjets, gas turbines, or both.
