A picture is worth a thousand words—so in the case of Maidelle, newly delivered by Icon Yachts, this photo, taken three days before Christmas, speaks volumes. At the official hand-over off the coast of Norway, there was not only heavy snow but also strong wind and rough seas.
Capt. Donald Heath’s characterization of it being “pretty awful weather” sounds like the understatement of the year. What’s not understated, though, is how happy he is with the 205-foot (62.5-meter) megayacht’s performance, saying she handled it well “and generally gave the impression of being a solid and safe sea boat.” He adds, “everyone was impressed by her sea keeping qualities, and by and large she was very quiet even in rough weather.”
Maidelle (pictured above during sea trials) has left the snowdrifts behind her, cruising some more temperate destinations around the Med. Weather permitting, the megayacht’s indoor-outdoor areas on the main deck and lower deck can be put to good use. Among them is a spacious beach club, seen below. Plentiful socializing and relaxation space is available, and the area further includes a sauna and gym.
The split-level owner’s suite and the rest of Maidelle should make her owner and guests feel equally welcome. The megayacht’s interior, by Cristiano Gatto Design, combines ebony, mahogany, rosewood, and walnut canaletto on soles, furnishings, and wall paneling with stonework on soles and countertops, striking nice color contrasts.
