CRN 131, a 242’8” (74-meter) megayacht, marks an interesting first for her Italian builder. With more than 100 megayachts delivered to date, CRN is just now collaborating with Andrew Winch Designs.
Construction on CRN 131 started a few weeks ago. Word arrived this week from Burgess that she is for a repeat client of the firm. The Burgess Technical Services is serving as the owner’s project manager. Burgess is permitted to release just a few facts thus far. CRN 131 will have a personal, panoramic owner’s saloon, for example. It will be fitted with full-height glass, too, to make those panoramic views more dramatic. Of course, the megayacht will also have an expansive sundeck with a hot tub, plus a beach club. CRN 131’s gross tonnage will exceed 1,500, making her plenty voluminous. Specifics on the decor are not yet available for publicity.
However, the Italian shipyard previously revealed a handful of other facts about CRN 131. Five staterooms will cater to the owner’s family and friends. The master suite will have the all-important balcony, in big demand these days. Touch-and-go helicopter operations situated on the foredeck will make swift work of arrivals and departures in some cruising regions. Speaking of cruising, CRN 131 should see a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruise of 15 knots, powered by Caterpillar engines. The yacht will additionally house 34 crew and four staff members.
Styling for CRN 131 is from a frequent shipyard partner, Zuccon International Project. Delivery is set for 2016. At that point, CRN 131 will officially be the second-largest CRN to date, after Chopi Chopi.
As for Burgess Technical Services, it has worked for a variety of owners thus far. Arguably the most famous is that of Azzam, the world’s largest yacht. The Burgess Technical Services team is comprised of naval architects and marine engineers. They consult on both new construction and existing yachts. Depending on an owner’s needs, Burgess Technical Services can consult on current and upcoming regulatory matters, such as the Passenger Yacht Code. The team also consults on design, navigation systems selection, audio-visual (entertainment) systems selection, hull extensions, and more.
