How do you know if a marina you’re planning to visit adheres to high customer-service standards, besides word of mouth? You can check the Gold Anchor Award Scheme of The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA). TYHA awards upwards of five Gold Anchors to marinas that voluntarily undergo its audit, mystery-shopper examinations, and questioning of berth holders. The latest marina to receive five Gold Anchors is Blue Haven Marina, part of the IGY Marinas network. In fact, Blue Haven Marina is the fourth IGY Marinas property to receive five Gold Anchors.
To put the accomplishment of Blue Haven Marina into perspective, consider that the Gold Anchor award program has been operating for more than 25 years. More than 130 marinas in nearly two dozen countries participate, too. The Gold Anchor ratings are endorsed by ICOMIA (International Council of Marine Industry Associations), among others. Furthermore, any marina receiving five Gold Anchors also receives the ICOMIA Clean Marinas Award. This means the marina has established a minimum set of environmental standards that are consistently agreed upon throughout the industry.
Blue Haven Marina and IGY Marinas staff (pictured) were officially given the five Gold Anchors Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Blue Haven Marina is less than two years old, accommodating yachts to 220 feet (67 meters). Adam Foster, general manager of Blue Haven Marina, says there’s been “tremendous interest” in dockage. Located on the northeastern coast of Providenciales, it’s 575 miles south of Miami. Blue Haven Marina is also part of the Blue Haven Resort, which includes a private beach, infinity pool, restaurants, a market, a spa, and of course plenty of watersports activities. Marina guests are granted full access to the resort’s amenities. “The wide array of services and facilities we are able to offer through our adjacent resort makes the experience unique for our marina guests,” Foster adds.
The other three IGY Marinas properties that have received five Gold Anchors are Yacht Haven Grande in St. Thomas, Rodney Bay Marina in St. Lucia, and The Yacht Club at Isle de Sol in St. Maarten.
