A J-Class yacht is at her best when racing, and that’s exactly what three of these famed yachts will be doing come June.
Velsheda, Ranger, and Lionheart will compete against one another in a J-Class regatta in Falmouth, England. Being held from June 22 to 27, the regatta is being organized by the Royal Cornwell Yacht Club. Velsheda, Ranger, and Lionheart will race under the J-Class Association handicap rules. They’ll further be berthed at Pendennis’ marina. No need to remain on land to watch the action, however: Solent Rib Charter is offering spectator opportunities on the water.
The three yachts will vie for top billing once again in England about a month later. They’ll race in the Royal Yacht Squadron’s (RYS) Bicentenary Regatta in Cowes, from July 25 to 31. (On an interesting side note, the actual RYS 200th anniversary is June 1. That day in 1815 is when the inaugural meeting took place.)
