Named in honor of Pininfarina’s 85 years in business, Ottantacinque is a “sculptural floating home,” as the design firm’s chairman puts it. She’s a concept conceived with Fincantieri that embraces the two Italian firms’ strong Italian roots, too.
Rising five decks high and measuring 281’8” (85.9 meters), Ottantacinque represents the second collaboration between the two companies. The famed fast yacht Destriero, launched in 1991, was the first.
While Destriero emphasized performance, Ottantacinque puts a punctuation mark on luxury. Witness how nearly the entire main aft deck is occupied by two pools. A teak “island” is nestled between them, where sunlounges can be set up to accompany a significant-size sunpad. No mere swimming spots, the pools allow for adjustable water depths. The floors of each can rise up to make the water shallow. In fact, they can even be flush with the deck. That allows Ottantacinque to have a single-level entertaining area comprising more than 1,722 square feet (160 square meters).
Ottantacinque has plenty of additional areas for the 14-person owners’ party to enjoy. There’s a three-partition beach club, with platforms to each side as well as aft. An additional fold-down platform just forward creates an extra private sunning or relaxing spot. And, given a beam of 48’6” (14.8 meters), interior spaces can be configured in a wide variety of ways.
With an expected range of 6,000 nautical miles achievable at 12 knots, Ottantacinque should have no trouble taking her owners to the far corners of the world, either. Surely the owners who commission her will ensure the 19-person crew and personal staff who can also be accommodated will share their sense of adventure.
