Enjoying her first summer cruising season, Giaola-Lu has been spending time in the Med. Bilgin Yachts delivered her last month to a Mexican owner with a big family, who all love spending time outdoors. On deck, and throughout her interior, the emphasis is on relaxing, dining, and even partying. With the rest of Europe, plus Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea destinations on her itinerary, Giaola-Lu has big plans for her big profile.
At about 154 feet (46.8 meters) LOA and with a beam of 30 feet (9.2 meters), the megayacht keeps things streamlined outside. It all starts with the vertical bow, from H2 Yacht Design and Bilgin Design Team. A pale-grey paint job emphasizes the look. Passers-by on the water won’t have to strain to catch her cruising, given a reported top end of 16 knots under Caterpillar power.
A key way that Giaola-Lu provides outside enjoyment: the indoor-outdoor skylounge (below). It’s an intimate space, ringed with sliding glass doors. A dining area here as well makes the room welcoming throughout the day and evening. Overall, the room follows the owner’s directive for a “contemporary, cozy, and natural” ambiance. Walnut and wenge with satin finishes mix with matte-finished olive wood throughout Giaola-Lu to set the mood. For luxe touches, stones—all sourced from Bilgin Yachts’ home of Turkey—range from white onyx to dark emperador marble.
To get the party started, Giaola-Lu has what Bilgin Yachts calls a “stadium quality” sound system on her sundeck. Rooms from the saloon to the skylounge have good-size TVs. Even the VIP, nearly equivalent to the main-deck master suite, has more than one television. Shuttling guests to and from shore comes courtesy of two Castoli tenders. One gets stowed just forward of the beach club, in a dedicated garage. The other joins two PWCs on deck, forward of the wheelhouse.
