There are hundreds, if not thousands, of superyacht videos posted on the Web. Few come close to giving you a real personal sense of what it’s like to stay aboard. That’s what makes this video of the new expedition megayacht Ulysses, published within the past week, so special.
Yes, Ulysses is massive, measuring 351 feet (107 meters) long. Yes, her owners are quite high-profile, and haven’t shied away from publicity. (They’re Graeme and Robyn Hart, New Zealanders with a longtime passion for yachts.) And sure, Ulysses is extraordinary for being capable of carrying an owners’ party of 60. But when has a megayacht video made the camera’s eye view your view, complete with crewmembers and fellow guests looking you in the eye? When have you felt as if you’re running through a passageway out to the aft-deck pool, where your kids are splashing around to their hearts’ content?
From the moment the helicopter capable of landing aboard Ulysses does so in the opening frames, you’re in for a completely different experience. You take some of the watertoys out for a spin. You dine with family and friends. Later on, you consider joining in a game of billiards, but first check on the kids in the cinema. Come daytime, the crew of Ulysses have all your favorite offroading vehicles ready to take to shore to play. After all, Ulysses is an expedition yacht.
Bottom line: Enjoy.
