CCN calls it Fuoriserie. In English, it means “custom built.” Either way, this new business line for CCN has its first launch, Elsea. She’s a 164-footer (50-meter) motoryacht.
Until CCN announced the new custom approach about two years ago, it had only offered semi-custom maxis. It still builds them, as the FlyingSport series. But, the FlyingSport yachts are limited to an 86 and 102. Furthermore, they’re fiberglass. The Italian yard decided to expand into all-aluminum custom construction with the custom line.
CCN had a learning curve, of course, in building a far larger yacht, and one entirely designed around an owner’s wishes. To address it, the management team brought onboard additional craftspeople skilled in custom yachts. It also credits Imperial Yachts, which served as the owner’s representative, as well as the construction manager and supervisor for Elsea. Julia Stewart, Imperial’s director, adds that her company assisted CCN in upgrading its efforts.
Those efforts resulted in a 164-footer that should see a spirited top end of 27 knots. Triple MTUs also should allow an 18-knot cruising speed. The owner and guests can enjoy themselves underway in a variety of alfresco areas—some set up in quite unexpected ways.
For example, Elsea doesn’t just have outdoor speakers. The beach club has ones that reportedly can make the best DJs in Ibiza downright jealous. (No word on whether the bar in the beach club will make land-based mixologists jealous, though.) The party can continue one deck up, in and around the mosaic-lined hot tub. If guests would rather be inside, the upper saloon doubles as a cinema.
Inside Elsea, designed by Studio Vafiadis, Art Deco elements mix with with modern ones in an opulent atmosphere. From the five guest staterooms to the owner’s suite, as well as the main and upper saloons, stainless steel details outline bold shapes. Other reflective materials appear, too, like crystal, especially as lamps. LEDs rim the underside of furnishings and act as spotlights, to draw attention to them. Elsea further features backlit onyx and a handful of woods.
