The new management for the ever-popular Port Vauban in Antibes wants to heighten visitors’ experiences. The first effort is a berth package for the Cannes Film Festival, additionally affording benefits unobtainable for those who anchor out.
In late March, Vauban 21 emerged as the new manager for the marina. This followed the city of Antibes’ decision in early 2016 to seek an independent operator. Vauban 21 now has a 25-year agreement in place (plus a 15-year agreement for nearby Port Gallice). Since upgrading customer service is a priority, Vauban 21 is offering a first-ever film festival package. Under it, the IYCA has slips for megayachts from 131 to 525 feet (40 to 160 meters) available between May 15 and 25. The berths come with transfers via helicopter, tenders (via Wajer 38 sportboats), and Maserati Levante cars.
Furthermore, from midnight through to 6 p.m. each of those 10 days, Port Vauban will host events. They include VIP parties, fashion shows, plus tea and wine tastings, the latter privately aboard your yacht. Art exhibits will also be in the mix, at the Bastion St. Jaume. Yet other benefits include experiencing fast-driving simulators, seeing supercars, and playing golf at the Domaine de Barbossi.
In addition, in keeping with the Cannes Film Festival theme, Port Vauban will treat select guests to old-fashioned drive-in movies. Once again, Bastion St. Jaume is the location. At the end of each night, you can watch old movies on an outdoor screen—from the comfort of a collectible vintage car, no less.
While you’re in town, you can learn more about the renovation plans for Port Vauban. They include improving the captainerie, with a new restaurant boasting panoramic views and rooftop terrace. The IYCA captainerie is set for renovation as well. It involves creating a larger, sturdier helipad and a leisure center for crew, featuring a gym and library. Underground parking for 600 cars is in the plans, too. So is a new walkway around the marina.
Vauban 21 anticipates rolling out the changes over the next 15 years.
