At weddings, guests throw rice or birdseed. At the launch of Clorinda this week, the blushing beauty was greeted with a cascade of confetti.
The new ISA Sport 120 is the first megayacht launched under the ownership of the Palumbo Group. The Italian company acquired ISA Yachts last year and revived this popular sporty series. The first ISA Sport 120 debuted in 2008. Clorinda is the 11th launch, still with styling by Andrea Valicelli.
Measuring nearly 120 feet (36.45 meters), Clorinda will cruise with 10 people in the owner’s party later this summer. Of course, the owner gets prime real estate forward on the main deck. Two double staterooms and two twin staterooms take care of friends and family below decks. In a slight change of pace from the original ISA Sport 120, Clorinda has four instead of five crewmembers, plus the captain. However, the three-cabin arrangement for them remains the same.
As for other amenities, a highlight is the circular dining area. Located on the main deck, it’s bright, due to full-height glass that rims it. Clorinda also caters to sun chasers, with a sunning area (in proximity to a bar, naturally) on the uppermost deck. For active guests, two PWCs await, as does a tender, in three side-launching garages.
Bearing a beam of 24 feet (7.4 meters), Clorinda will surely emphasize the “sport” in “ISA Sport 120.” The shipyard says her top speed should be 33 knots, while her cruising speed should be 27 knots. Sea trials will put her triple (yes, triple) MTU and KaMeWa waterjet package, along with a central booster, to the test.
Those interested in commissioning an ISA Sport 120 for themselves can get a good look at Clorinda at the fall boat shows. She’s attending the Cannes Yachting Festival as well as the Monaco Yacht Show, both in September.
