While scientists debunk the belief, plenty of people still view Monday as the worst day of the week. Funny enough, the team at Bilgin Yachts commented on this, too, since today, being a Monday, is a good day for them. It saw the Bilgin 263 depart her construction shed for her outfitting shed.
Signed in October 2015, the 262’8” (80.1-meter) megayacht is the biggest Bilgin build. Plating work began in early 2016 at Bilgin’s own facility in Yalova, Turkey. As seen in the photos here, towboats took the Bilgin 263 through the waters, over to the builder’s finishing sheds in Istanbul. Those finishing sheds are relatively new, part of new headquarters, too, completed earlier this year.
With a beam of 40 feet (12.2 meters), the Bilgin 263 has styling and engineering from Unique Yacht Design. The two have collaborated previously, plus have a sistership to the 263 just a few months behind this one in the construction process. They anticipate the new yacht seeing a top speed of 18 knots at half load. Range should be 5,000 nautical miles at half load at just a few knots slower. Power comes from twin 2,625-hp MTUs.
Inside, H2 Yacht Design, yet another previous partner of the shipyard, is tailoring the interior to the owner’s tastes. No information is available on the woods, stones, or other materials being used. However, we do know the megayacht is the third such project from Bilgin for this client. We also know the yacht has three VIP suites and four more guest staterooms for family and friends. In addition, if you look carefully at the photos above, you’ll see aft hatches. They correspond to fold-down platforms expanding leisure space. Furthermore, the Bilgin 263 has a pool inside her beach club/spa.
Delivery is set for 2019, for both the first and second Bilgin 263 yachts. That second yacht started on spec but sold in November 2016.
