With sea trials underway, Irisha is making her first public appearances following departure from Heesen’s shipyard. She’s also doing so under her real name, for the first time.
Irisha is the given name for YN 18151, a fully custom megayacht that Heesen signed in 2015. In traditional Heesen fashion, the hull number (“YN” designation) included her LOA: 51 meters, or 167 feet. At the time, though, both the builder and the stylist, Eidsgaard Design, kept most details close to the vest. In fact, neither disclosed her delivery date. Neither did either reveal renderings of her eventual profile. They simply said she’d echo a fighter jet. Only when construction started to advance (top) did we get glimpses of her sharp lines and Eidsgaard’s (and, clearly, the owner’s) penchant for distinction.
Heesen recently revealed that Irisha launched in early March. Just last week, the megayacht made her way from the shipyard’s site in Oss, The Netherlands, to the city of Hellevoetsluis, toward the western coast of the country. Heesen performs final outfitting and sea trials there. Those sea trials should confirm a maximum speed of 25 knots at half load. The twin MTU engines should also allow an 11-knot most-efficient cruise. That, in turn, should result in a 2,425-nautical-mile range.
Better yet for yacht spotters, Irisha is showing off her fighter-jet styling and distinctive color scheme. Her medium-blue aluminum hull calls attention to itself, as do swaths of glass cutting through her white superstructure. No doubt the owner’s party of 10 will enjoy watching her come into view as they approach via tender in her travels.
Irisha appears in the video above around the 30-second mark. However, you see a part of her at the very beginning of the video. Specifically, it’s her arch, with communications gear already mounted to it. You also get to see another Heesen, White, at the very beginning. This 164-footer (50-meter) is undergoing final fit-out, too. Note further how the two megayachts are strikingly different.
