Yacht Mon Coeur Is a “Base Camp” for Oceangoing Exploration

Sporting a steel hull amid her 102 feet (31 meters) of length, the yacht Mon Coeur has just as strong of a mission. In her owners’ words, “Mon Coeur is more than a yacht; it’s the culmination of a wonderful partnership and the beginning of countless adventures ahead.”

Having just launched at Cantiere delle Marche, the project belongs to the RJ series. Like the superyacht that gave the range its name, the 153-foot (47-meter) RJ, this 102-footer is a true bluewater capable explorer, only with more yacht-like styling. That combination, which includes cutouts and broad stairs to the water (below), ticked important boxes for the owners. However, the shipyard didn’t have a model of Mon Coeur’s dimensions when conversations began. “We built this yacht for her owners, their vision,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, Cantiere delle Marche’s co-founder and CEO. The owners found a meeting of the minds, from day one of discussions. “The team’s dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit made every step of the process smooth, inspiring, and thoroughly enjoyable,” they say.

It wasn’t a simple matter of designing a smaller megayacht, though. “We faced a puzzle,” according to Francesco Paszkowski, who styled the RJ line. “How do you preserve the commanding presence and go-anywhere confidence of a larger yacht in a rather small package?” The solution was incorporating styling cues appealing to the owners while echoing the lines of the RJ family. All the while, the bluewater engineering promises abundant horizon chasing. The yacht Mon Coeur should see a range of 3,500 nautical miles at 10 knots, carrying 7,925 gallons (30,000 liters) of fuel.

Horizon chasing is definitely on the agenda, too. “Mon Coeur’s mission is to serve as a base camp for a couple exploring the world from aboard her,” notes Giorgio Cassetta, who handled interior design. Amid the good volume of 250 gross tons, the owners have spaces and features that truly reflect a singular vision. For instance, one of the staterooms has a pullman, bringing total passenger count to nine. More importantly, the galley is for the owners to use themselves, not solely a work area for the chef on the five-person crew. Throughout the decks, every single space is entirely custom, with natural materials and tailor-made, organically shaped furnishings. The look and feel is warm and discreetly elegant.

Altogether, the LOA and configuration translate to “a deliberately limited number of guests,” Cassetta explains. They’re “reinforcing the yacht’s role as a setting for meaningful experiences made all the more memorable through sharing them.”

The owners can’t wait to start making these memories, either. “Working with Cantiere delle Marche to create Mon Coeur has been an absolute joy and truly the journey of a lifetime,” they say. “We couldn’t be prouder or more grateful.”
