This past Sunday, the superyacht Illusion Plus completed a major step toward delivery. She concluded her series of sea trials in the waters off Yantai, China.
Illusion Plus is currently the largest megayacht from Asian shores, measuring 290’4” (88.5 meters). Pride Mega Yachts has had her in build for several years now, begun when the company carried the name CIMC Raffles Yacht. A multi-national team of designers and engineers is behind the project. Specifically, styling is by Rainsford Mann Design. Naval architecture, meanwhile, is by Azure Naval Architects.
Pride Mega Yachts anticipated Illusion Plus performing at a 14-knot cruise under diesel-electric propulsion. That system features Azipull pods as well, which are pulling azimuthing propellers, touted for their maneuvering efficiency. Range at 14 knots should be 5,000 nautical miles.
Illusion Plus made her first appearance in April. The sea-trial footage above, shot by the shipyard, gives you a better overall sense of her lines, and her sheer size. Note, for example, the crowd of craftspeople gathered on her bow helipad at the end of the video, with plenty more elbowroom to spare.
Since delivery is set for the third quarter this year, Illusion Plus has several items remaining for completion. The interior design, by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, is among them. Still no photos are available at this point. However, Pride Mega Yachts describes the overall ambiance as being contemporary. In addition, the shipyard previously disclosed some of the most eye-catching features. For one, Illusion Plus has a two-deck-high atrium. It creates continuity between the dining area and the upper saloon. All guests will get to wake up to terrific views, due to their staterooms spread between the main and upper decks. Those staterooms: two VIPs, four doubles, and one twin. Interestingly, originally two lounges complemented two doubles, situated on the main deck. But, now those lounges are staterooms that can convert to lounges. Finally, the master suite encompasses 861 square feet (80 square meters), additionally featuring a private alfresco space.
Illusion Plus is further for sale, for $145 million. Y.CO holds the central-agency listing.
