Marking the second project for the same owner, Tankoa Yachts kicked off the month of August with the launch of the superyacht Solo.
Started under the project name S701, Solo is a voluminous yacht, upwards of 1,600 gross tons. Along with big volume, she boasts big length, 236 feet (72 meters). Similar to repeat customers of shipyards worldwide, the owner wanted a larger yacht this time around. His first Tankoa, Suerte, was 226 feet (69 meters), launched three years ago.
Several creature comforts come along with those increased figures. For example, Solo has a longer main aft deck, further fitted with a nearly 20-foot-long (6-meter-long) pool. (On a related side note, the pool spans the beam, a different configuration than most. Typically, aft-deck pools run fore to aft.) Another benefit is a bigger “winter garden,” a.k.a. upper-deck lounge. These come from collaborating with Francesco Paszkowski Design, responsible for styling and interiors.
Even though you might not think of technical features in considering creature comforts, they improved, too. The longer waterline length means the superyacht Solo sees a slightly higher top speed at half load, just over 17 knots. Furthermore, Tankoa Yachts and naval architect Vincenzo Ruggerio designed her with underwater exhausts. That helped increase interior volume.
Guests who spend time aboard Solo are sure to be spoiled. They can start their day with an invigorating workout in the glass-walled gym contained within the beach club. It has a fold-down platform for sea views and sea breezes. They can then relax in the sauna, also with a sea terrace, or hammam. If the owner hosts a party, a hair salon awaits on an upper deck. The same room has a massage table.
Interestingly, the hair salon/massage room can convert to an extra stateroom, as can the owner’s study. This supplements the existing six staterooms, including the master suite, contained on its own deck, with private access to the helipad. Note, too, that the VIP suite and four guest staterooms all sit on the main deck, with significant-size windows to enjoy the view.
Guests better hope the owner invites them aboard soon after delivery. He plans to put the superyacht Solo up for sale, since he wants yet another, bigger Tankoa. She’ll debut at the Monaco Yacht Show, in case you’re interested in buying her.
