Named for the flowering plants that grow from bulbs, Lilium has joined the lineup of megayachts from Bilgin Yachts. She represents hull number two in the Bilgin 156 series, sharing a technical platform with her sistership but an entirely tailored interior design.
Since she is part of a series, Lilium has styling and naval architecture by Unique Yacht Design. Like hull number one, Nerissa (now under the name Starburst III), she has a displacement hull design and twin MTUs for long-range cruising. Top speed should be 16 knots, with a best range upwards of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots under half load.
While Lilium, like Nerissa, also has four guest staterooms below decks and a master suite on the main deck, some differences do exist. One in particular affects crew traffic. The crewmembers have more private passageways to ensure they can move around onboard more easily. This also provides more privacy to the owners and guests. In addition, the galley features a different layout, to enhance meal preparation and service. In fact, a big island sits in the galley, helpful for platter staging—especially when the owners plan to throw parties. Further helpful, Lilium has a pantry between the galley and entry to the saloon/dining area.
Of course, the owners also chose colors that suit their tastes. While Nerissa was bold and assertive in her interior style, Lilium is more sedate, yet also bright. Primarily, whites and golds appear throughout the decks, though brass appears, too. The lightness is all the more evident due to sunlight spilling down through the glass-bottomed hot tub on the uppermost deck. It fills the stairway connecting each deck. Finally, each guest stateroom, as well as the master suite, has personalized headboards and marble work, to create individual atmospheres. Bilgin’s own design team collaborated with the owners for these features.
Lilium premieres at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. Over the summer, though, her owners will enjoy time aboard in the South of France. İsmail Şengün, CEO of Bilgin Yachts, says the shipyard team strove to ensure those days are as beautiful as the flower whose name she carries: “a sunny and happy day on a deck.”
