Inaugurated this summer season, the first IGY Marinas property in Europe also has its first visitor. The yacht, with her owners onboard, arrived yesterday. A celebratory bottle of champagne welcomed them to the company’s purpose-built marina in the South of France, IGY Sète.
IGY Marinas announced its South of France expansion in 2017. Tom Mukamal, the company’s CEO, explained that the timing was right to venture beyond the Americas. “Our customers are well-educated and well-traveled, making it crucial for our brand to continue responding to the demand for more unique facilities and flexible berthing options in the world’s most-sought-after destinations,” he said.
IGY Sète is in the city of Sète, a major port. It accommodates megayachts to 590 feet (180 meters), with a maximum draft of 26 feet (8 meters). Side-to berthing stretches more than 1,900 feet (582 meters), overseen by 24-hour security. While it conveniently sits between Barcelona and Cannes, the city itself holds charm, too. Beaches, art museums, year-round festivals, and highly touted seafood restaurants attract visitors, as do the canals winding through the city center. In addition, Sète is ideal for day trips to places like Cevennes National Park, Montpellier, Nimes, and Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. Montpellier International Airport is just 25 minutes away.
Since a happy crew means a happy ownership experience, the marina has amenities just for them. A fitness center, a lounge, and a rooftop terrace all await. An on-site business center, provisioning, and full concierge services should make their jobs easier, too.
Of course, since summertime is prime time in the Med, IGY Sète may see most visitors during this season. However, the marina offers winter home-port options as well as pre-season berths. Furthermore, it offers multiple-year berths.
